About Shelf & Stone
Shelf & Stone is a woman-owned business located in the heart of the Driftless Region in Wisconsin. To put it simply, WE LOVE ROCKS!!! And born from this passion for geology, we decided to share this love and passion with everyone. All of our adventures are rock adventures. In our free time you’ll find us on the magnificent shores of the Great Lakes through the beautiful grassy plains of South Dakota and as far west as the shores in California. We search for and collect amazing rocks, agates and fossils and sometimes gold and copper too. Our Mission is to bring that fascination and joy of rocks to you.

Since rocks, crystals, and agates enhance our lives, we created Shelf & Stone to source high quality, hand selected stones to you. Whether you are incorporating stones and crystals into your daily life for wellness of mind and body, or, if you enjoy collecting specimens just to learn about the geologic properties of the various minerals our amazing earth has to offer, we have the stones for you. Our beautiful pendants and stones are handmade by skilled craftspeople and ethically sourced from our partners in the US and around the world.

Our Madagascan products are sourced from a socially and ecologically responsible organization. They pay fair wages and provide PPE (personal protective equipment) to their workers. And by being part of the community, they make a direct impact by addressing famine issues, pay for the education of the children of their workers, build and staff local health clinics, and plant native vegetation and fruit trees. They also use land reclamation processes to minimize the environmental impact from mining and don’t use heavy machinery, explosives or chemicals for extraction.

We give back: a percentage of our profits go to nonprofit charities that provide stable housing to at-risk girls in India, giving them the opportunity to complete their education and receive life-skills and mentoring. On the home front, we support our local shelter for victims of domestic abuse where they can receive the vital support and the foundation to start a new life.

We believe in natural stones. All our stones and crystals are either tumbled or raw. Our palm stones and free forms are finished using hand-polishing techniques. Our wire-wrapped pendants are hand-wrapped by skilled artisans in India using silver-plated semi-round wire.
